Something I'm learning how to handle better are interruptions to my life. I don't know about you but I don't always handle interruptions well. But one thing God has been trying to teach me for a while now is He is a God who wants us to be OK with the RIGHT kind of interruptions. He wants us to make people more important than tasks. He wants us to be OK with stopping our work so that we can engage a person who really needs to be cared for that day. He wants us to be OK with resting for a moment to hear his voice. He wants us to be OK with putting our work down and spending time with our family. The challenge for me is that I have to be listening for the voice of God in order to hear those interruptions and that only comes through prayer.

I love the idea of "praying continually" in 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Praying continually doesn't mean sitting in a room all day and with hands clasped and eyes closed. It means constant openness to the voice of God. Being always aware of his presence and OK with him interrupting our life and our thoughts so that He can accomplish his purpose in us and through us.

So today here's a few questions to ponder:

1. What in your life are you not OK with God interrupting? It may be the very thing you should let him interrupt.

2. Are you even listening at all to the voice of God? He is speaking. He wants to be in communion with you. But we have to acknowledge his voice.

Pray continually. - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:6
