Day 15: Monday April 27th

Waiting, trusting, hoping.

More than them being intricately connected, I find them to be extremely challenging from time to time. I am sure you can relate.

Waiting can be agonizing. Trusting can seem impossible. Hoping can seem hopeless.

If I was always sure that I would get what I want in the end, I would dominate those waiting seasons! But there is no guarantee while I am waiting that I am going to get what I want.

If I could just SEE God in the midst of a difficult set of circumstances it would make it easier for me to trust Him.

If I knew the outcome of trying times I would hold fast to hope, but I am certainly not all knowing.

Let's look at this from a different perspective for a moment. God's word gives us something to hold onto in the midst of our waiting and trusting and hoping: His truth.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

We may not get what we want but God says His plans prosper us, do not harm us and give us hope! That is GOOD!

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters,

I will be with you;

and when you pass through the rivers,

they will not sweep over you.

When you walk through the fire,

you will not be burned;

the flames will not set you ablaze.

God IS absolutely with us even if we cannot feel Him or see Him.

Deuteronomy 31:8

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.

God knows the outcome because He goes before us! We can rest in His sovereignty.

It is so good to be reminded of these truths in God's word. Which ones stick out to you in a current or past difficult season of waiting or trial?
