You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
It is one of our deepest core desires as human beings to be known and loved. It is often the thing that is driving how we think, act and feel. These words of David in Psalm 139 remind me that I AM KNOWN AND LOVED. My heavenly father knows who I am because HE created me. He knows how I'm wired because HE wired me. And he LOVES me for who I am. Not the sin that I so often commit, but for the person he made me to be; my shape, size, personality, giftings. I DO NOT have to perform or be something I wasn't created to be.
So today I don't know how you see yourself. I don't know how or if you've been trying to "be known and loved." But the most freeing thing in the world is knowing you are known and loved UNCONDITIONALLY by your heavenly father. Rest in that today.
A question to think through if you struggle with this; what or who have I sought to be known or loved by that has not delivered?
