Day 38 Wednesday, May 20th

When was the last time you experienced peace? The words peace and quiet often are used together and it makes sense -- you can't really have peace if it's not quiet.

Quiet is not just turning off the volume of things, it's quieting our minds that's the hard part isn't it? The noise of worry, stress, anxiety, fear, anger, jealousy ... these things crescendo to the very opposite of peace. The good news is we have the solution to this!

Laying down our worries, stresses, and anxieties at God's feet, fully giving up wrestling with them, will result in peace. We can't sit in the rooms of our souls with the volumes of these things blasting. We must go around to each one and not just turn down the volume, we need to unplug them!

Many people try to stop there -- escaping towards temporary dead silence. But the key to our success is plugging into the truth of God's word. Here are just a few promises to plug in to as you begin to lay the noise down at God's feet:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:25-26
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you;he will never leave you nor forsake you.Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8

Here's my challenge for you today: equip yourself with the promises of peace in God's Word. We have this amazing gift of peace readily available to us at any given moment. We just need to embed them in our hearts and engage them in our minds!

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9

I also want to encourage you to search for the devotional in the Bible app called "Finding Peace" by Charles Stanley. This ten day devotional will guide you through the scripture to find these wonderful promises.
