Day 39: Thursday May 21st

King of kings

Lord of lords

I love that we are reminded today of several attributes of God. There have been moments in my life when an attribute of God came alive to me.

When I was in high school I was very close with a group of friends. The summer going into my senior year all of those friends deserted me. To this day I still do not know why. Losing all of my friends going into my senior year was devastating for me. That year I learned something that helped me through: God is my friend. It was still hard to go through school with ZERO friends but knowing God was my friend comforted me so much.

Looking back I can see that it was a very good thing God did in my life by separating me from that group of friends and it was even better of Him to make himself known to me as my friend during that difficult time.

Which list of attributes above (or another one) comforts you the most? How has God made himself known to you? If you are facing a difficult season, is there an attribute of God that you can hold onto in the difficulties?

Scripture for reflection:

Which God will bring about in his own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.
