Day 8: Monday April 20, 2020

Hebrews 13:5 is one of my favorite verses. I absolutely love the explanation provided for us in the amplified version of this verse:

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”

Hebrews 13:5 (AMP)

What a promise! Go ahead and reread that verse!! A lot of times I read scripture and I am so comforted and then something unexpected happens. Something bad happens and all of a sudden I am faced with a lot of unknowns. It is in the midst of the unknowns that I struggle with finding the comfort in God that I once had. But what a perfect opportunity to strengthen our faith! Our circumstances may change but God and His word and His truth and His promises do not change. We MUST learn to cling to the things we know about God and about His truth no matter what happens to us. This verse points to many things we know about God.

He will never leave us.

He will never forsake us....ASSUREDLY NOT!

Whatever you are going through it is my prayer that you can cling to truth and KNOW that God is with you right now, he is not going to leave you alone!

For discussion:

How have you found comfort in God's word?

Share a time when you were faced with a difficult set of circumstances but were able to hold onto God's truth, how did you cling to Him despite your circumstances?
