Creation Corner: What is Creation Science?

Hello True North Family,
Adam here, True North’s resident creation science enthusiast. I’ll be helping Justin out from time to time writing some of these blogs. You’ll know when you see the green banner that it’s an Adam entry and that you’ll need to buckle up for something that’s not one of your normal topics.
Today, I want to touch on the overall concept of creation science. What is it? Why is it important and why should you know anything about it? What sort of topics will I be writing on from time to time and do I need to know a lot of science prior to reading these entries?
Creation science is the study of the regular sciences through the lens of the Bible.
Most scientists in our world look at data and the world and view this through the lens that there is no God. This is what has caused our world to create things like the Big Bang, evolution and the origin of species. These things are created to explain how the world could come to exist without a Creator. The problem is that they (the scientists) had already decided and discounted the Bible. The science was done, the facts were reported, but were already biased in that the Biblical explanation was already excluded from being a possible verified concept. And so, mankind is left with no story to match what is being found as new discoveries are made. If mankind had not already turned against God and had viewed the science with the story of the Bible in mind, they would have seen how science verifies the Bible, rather than going against it. At least, where the scientists are being honest.
This is the second big problem with modern Science. Due to discounting and actively trying to disprove the Bible, the science reported is often doctored or flat out falsified to promote a secular narrative. When the evidence shows a Biblical explanation is most relevant and true, the data is considered irrelevant, an error, or is changed.
Why should we care?
The Bible teaches that a believer should be educated in all things relevant to the faith. The Bible urges in 1 Peter 3:15 that we “should be ready to give an answer” to all who would ask.
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
A few weeks back Justin shared ideas for how to speak to those who use science to disprove the Bible. I think that the best way to do this is to actually know science, too. Scientifically-minded people who don’t believe in Jesus won’t take the Bible as evidence. They want evidence that works in the field they know. Science can be debated with science.
So why do so few Christians know much about science?
One reason is that many Christians might feel science cannot be trusted. We’ve been told lies and had our beliefs attacked by science, so why would we trust their studies and experiments to hold any truth? Another may be that it holds a degree of complexity that many people don’t get into, and perhaps you’ve not seen its importance to date.
However we need to overcome this, as it is for children that we as adults should be familiar with Creation science. If your child goes to public school, they are taught a large number of lies. When I was a teacher, in 2nd grade, we had a unit on dinosaurs and right off the bat they start with the “millions of years ago” lie. (I realize that some Christians also think the world could be millions of years old. I will hopefully convince you otherwise in a future installment). I remember numerous topics I was taught through the years that I now know are false. I had good, solid, educated Christian parents and well… they didn’t know how to counteract this. They didn’t know how to respond to what I wondered and asked.
As parents, we should know how to counteract the lies of the world.
If there are answers, let’s find them.
Regardless, my hope is that these blogs will address reasonable topics that promote your confidence in the Biblical narrative, enable you to engage with a new category of non-believers, and satisfy your curiosities concerning many topics. And, so importantly, provide parents and grandparents with much needed answers to combat the lies the world promotes. Children learn constantly and if we do not teach them truth, others will fill those gaps with something else.
Thanks for reading and until next time, so long.
