Creation Corner: Some Faults of the Big Bang Theory

ree

So why doesn’t the Big Bang Work?

I would think that the primary reason the Big Bang does not work as an explanation of our existence is obvious. If you recall a few sessions ago, we discussed that the Big Bang is the key to the start of our universe. Secular scientists believe that all matter and energy was condensed into a super-dense, super-hot pinpoint which expanded into the universe we know. The first problem is this:

Where did the matter and energy come from?

In session two we addressed the Christian side of this argument – what was here before God? I think we were able to come up with a logical and scriptural answer to this problem, yet science has no explanation for what was before the Big Bang. They postulate some theories, from another universe to dark matter, but in the end, there is no answer for this and this question is a major black eye in the face of the Big Bang Theory.

This is not the only issue and problem that cannot be explained by secular scientists. There are many things in our stellar universe that do not make sense according to what secular science teaches. Let’s look at a couple examples together.

The Big Bang teaches that everything exploded from a single point, expanding outward and spinning on axis. We recognize this in our own solar system where our Earth rotates, as does our moon, the sun and the other planets. But did you know our solar system itself rotates as does our Milky Way galaxy? They do, but strangely enough, they do not all rotate the same direction.

Most of the objects in our solar system rotate counterclockwise, however, the planet Venus, rotates clockwise. Maybe this doesn’t seem so problematic to you but let me give an example of why this is weird.

When I was a kid, we loved the merry go round. We’d run and run, getting it to spin up as fast as we could get it and then hold on for dear life. Centrifugal force would try to pull us off. Suppose you hooked it up to a motor and it could spin so fast you went flying off. What direction would you fly? You would fly off in the direction of the spin, not the opposite.

Likewise, since most celestial bodies spin counterclockwise, we would assume that the Big Bang had this original rotation. So how then are Venus and other planets that rotate the opposite way explained? Shouldn’t they all go the same way if they were part of the same ultra dense pinpoint in the Big Bang?

They defy physics.

Another example of a problem scientists cannot explain is moon dust. Have you ever looked at the original moon lander? Go ahead, take a moment, and google it. Really, I’ll wait…

Ok, so in 1969 when the first men were going to the moon, the moon lander was built to specification of what they believed would be found on the moon. Huge discs were mounted to the bottom of the legs of the lander. This is because the scientists had observed many meteorites impact the moon, leaving craters. These were pulverized to dust on impact. Over the years they could determine the rate of impacts and project how much dust would have accumulated over the millions or billions of years of time since the moon was formed (I say millions or billions because in 1969 the length of time since the Big Bang was estimated at a different amount than the 14.5 billion years believed today).

In short, they made the discs because they believed the moon lander would sink into the layers of dust and be lost if they didn’t make wide “snowshoe” pads on the legs to keep it up. But what was the reality? When the moon lander set down, they didn’t sink at all. In fact, the impression of Neil Armstrong’s footprint on the moon shows there was what, a quarter inch of dust?

This is direct evidence that the world and the moon are not millions of years old.

The truth is, there are a lot more proofs of this sort out there to be shown. As I have pointed out in earlier blogs, secular science requires time of huge amounts to do things that we know only God can do. Time is no replacement for a creator.

Thanks for reading and until next time, keep wondering.
