Grace's Jesus Story: Going from Fighting for Control to Fully Surrendering to God

Before

I was a very lost person. When I wasn’t working or with my kids I just felt empty and lonely. I was filling my free time with dating apps and meaningless dates and texting. I have experienced a lot of pain, betrayal, and trauma in my life. Because of that I had struggled to believe there was truly a God working in my life because I couldn’t understand why I had to go through so much pain, and I’m only 20. I rebelled and tried to make my own path. Time and time again I just kept failing even when I thought that was the right thing for me. I refused to give up control because I felt like I was alone and could live my life how I wanted or desired. I did eventually learn God was trying to work in my life, I was just fighting back hard trying to choose my own path. I now know why my will and plans never worked.

But then...

One random Wednesday evening, after I had dropped the kids off to their dad’s house, I was laying in bed. I was watching tik-tok and saw someone preaching and it just spoke to me so loudly. I broke down and started sobbing. I cried the entire night just praying and thanking Him for showing Himself to me in that moment because my heart was open and ready to accept. I began to recognize the power God truly has and I knew I wasn’t alone.

Now Living a Life Fully Surrendered to the Lord

My life has already changed immensely. I no longer feel lonely. I’ve deleted my dating apps as I know it’ll be on God’s timing. I find myself getting less angry when before I would lash out when inconvenienced or upset. I no longer feel the need to get “even”. No person will ever have power over my life again because I give myself over to Him fully and without any bounds. Becoming a devoted faithful Christian has helped me be a better mom and a better person. I feel like my life has purpose outside of just my kids now. I know I’m loved, forgiven, and oh so blessed. God has saved me and I’m beyond excited to see all the plans He has for mine and my children’s lives.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 38:14

Grace’s story is a powerful reminder of how Jesus meets us in our lowest, loneliest moments with an unshakable love and grace. Even when we’re running in the opposite direction, He still pursues us, ready to redeem, restore, and lead us into something better.
