Understanding What is SOAP Journaling
SOAP provides a clear and meaningful way to dive deeper into scripture each day. Begin with Scripture, allowing God’s Word to speak directly to you. Move to Observation, noting what stands out and what God might be saying. Next, apply these truths to your life through Application, and finally, engage in Prayer, bringing your reflections before God. This method not only enriches your understanding but also equips you to live out the Word in your daily life.
Diving into John 11
Scripture(s)

“But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?""John 11:37

“Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him” - John 11:45
Observation
In our hummaness it’s sometimes so hard to see how God is working. Jesus certainly could've healed Lazarus, but he CHOSE not to. WHY? So that many would believe in Him. Jesus explained to Martha the difference between life and death…the spiritual life that is eternal, and physical death. The result of Jesus's approach was two fold;
1) Jesus showed them that he prioritized a spiritual life over physical life. What happens to the Spirit is paramount.
2) He waited to come to Lazarus so that many Jews would believe in him.
Application
The Lord's ways are often not our ways. Though we may not always understand his ways he is working for our good. No matter what life throws at us, we must remember the Hope we have in Jesus… An eternity in paradise that no one can take away!
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for saving me from having to pay for the penalty of my sin. Thank you that even though I will die, I will never die spiritually!
Finding Hope in Jesus' Eternal Promise
John 11 reminds us that Jesus prioritizes our spiritual life over our physical life, offering a hope that extends beyond the grave. His ways may not always align with our expectations, but they are always for our good and His glory. When we face life’s trials, we can hold on to the unshakable truth that, through faith in Jesus, we have an eternal hope no one can take away. Let this passage encourage us to trust in His plan and live with confidence in the promise of eternal life.
